Before you arrive
What every shooter needs before checking in at the desk.
- All shooters must have valid, government-issued photo ID.
- Pistol shooters must have a valid CT pistol permit or blue card. A party may shoot pistols under one person's permit if all in the same port.
- Black-powder pistol does not require a pistol permit, but valid photo ID is still required.
- Active military, armed guards, corrections officers, and police shoot the first hour free with current ID.
- Kids under 16 shoot free under adult supervision at all times.
- Bring your own paper targets. Stands and staplers provided.
- Cash only. No cards, no Venmo, no Apple Pay.

On the line
Conduct at the port. Read these before your first relay. The three priorities above apply here at all times.
- Obey all commands of the Range Officer on duty without exception.
- Firearms must be unloaded and cased, holstered, or secured on a transport cart when not at the port.
- No handling of firearms in the picnic-table area.
- No drawing from the holster. All firearms must be placed at the port, not drawn, before firing.
- No full automatic fire. No tracer, explosive, chemical, or pyrotechnics.
- Rapid fire is not allowed. Rate of fire should not exceed 6 rounds in 10 seconds.
- Long guns and shotguns must be fired from the shoulder or the bench. No hip-fire.
- Magazines may be reloaded during a cease fire only from behind the yellow line.
- Tactical shooting events are not permitted on the premises.

Targets & distances
Permitted targets and the distances allowed for each discipline.
- Paper targets only. Metal targets are not allowed at this time.
- No glass, ceramic, stone, aerial, or exploding targets.
- No stuffed animals, photos, or any images with a face.
- All targets placed down range no closer than 25 feet.
- Rifle stands at 25, 50, and 100 yards, placed behind the berms to protect the bases.
- Pistol target stands placed no further than the base of the berm. Maximum 15 yards.
- Shotguns may pattern birdshot on shooter-provided targets and stands. No buckshot.
- Shotgun slugs only on HRSA-owned target frames and bases.
- No targets placed over the frame or in front of the frame base.
- All targets and materials must be disposed of properly.

RSO authority
Authority and priority on the range.
- The RSO may inspect firearms and ammunition before live firing. Unsafe equipment will not be permitted to fire.
- The General Public takes priority over Membership for ports on busy days, per our agreement with the State.
- In any dispute, whether between the public, members, or anyone else, the RSO makes the final call. Everyone must abide or leave the range area.
Safety comes first, every shooter, every visit. If anything on the line is ever unclear, ask the RSO on duty before you act. That’s exactly what they’re there for.
