Cowboy Action
at the Rock.
First Sundays from April through December, the Rock runs a SASS-style Cowboy Action match — single-action revolvers and lever-action rifles, all in period dress. Spectators always welcome.
Cowboy Action Shooting at the Rock is a monthly six-stage match held on the first Sunday from April through December. Shooters dress the part — single-action revolvers, lever rifles, side-by-side or pump shotguns, all in period costume.
The Range is closed to the general public on Cowboy Action Sundays, but spectators are welcome — come watch, ask questions, and meet the shooters. If you’ve ever wanted to try it, that’s the day to do it.
You come for the shooting and stay for the people.
First Sundays,
April through December.
Nine matches a year, on the first Sunday of each month. The range is closed to the public on those days for the CAS event.
Safety briefing 9:30 am
Briefing for all shooters and observers. First stage of competition starts shortly after the briefing wraps.
No CAS in Jan, Feb, Mar.
The Cowboy Action season runs April through December. The Rock is open to the general public on first Sundays during the winter off-season.

Targets are provided within the scenarios. We do not sell ammunition, food, or beverages — bring what you need.

before you buy in.
Loaner gear is available for new shooters — firearms, leather, and period clothing — so you can shoot a full match at no extra cost. We just ask you observe one match first to see what it’s about.
Show up on a first Sunday and watch.
Come spectate a match before you commit. Safety briefing at 9:30, first stage shortly after. Wave down anyone in cowboy gear — they’re happy to talk new-shooter questions through.
Borrow the kit on your second visit.
Loaner firearms, leather, and period clothing are available for new shooters at no extra cost. You bring the curiosity and a valid CT pistol permit (or blue card) for the pistol stages. Boots are required — no tennis shoes or sneakers on the line.
Pick an alias, shoot a match.
Every CAS shooter goes by a Western alias. Find one that suits you. Most new shooters come back; some sign up the same day they first try it.
