Special events\u2014such as Cowboy Shoots and Women on Target\u2014may affect that schedule. In the late Fall and Winter months, our schedule also adjusts to the earlier sunsets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"566\" src=\"https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters-1024x566.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1087\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.8091872791519434;width:841px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters-1024x566.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters-768x424.jpg 768w, https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-shooters.jpg 1124w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Range Rules<\/strong> &#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eye and ear protection are mandatory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All shooters must have valid, government-issued photo ID. Pistol shooters must have a valid Connecticut pistol permit or blue card. Parties may shoot pistols under the pistol permit of one person in the group so long as they are all shooting in the same port. Black powder pistol shooting is the one exception to this&#8211;a pistol permit is not required, though again, ALL shooters must present a valid, government-issued Photo ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Active military with current, active ID, armed guards with current blue card, corrections officers with current carry permit, police officers and other law enforcement officers with valid ID shoot for one hour FREE.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To promote safe habits in the next generation of shooters, children under the age of 16 shoot for FREE, but must be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All persons on the range must obey all commands of the Range Officers on duty and must abide by their decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are any disputes on the range with the Public or Membership, the Range Officers on duty will make the final decision, and all must abide by it or leave the range area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Please bring your own paper targets<\/strong>. We&#8217;ll provide the target stands and staplers, but we expect you to have targets. You can always print some out for free from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mytargets.com\">http:\/\/www.mytargets.com<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The General Public takes priority over the Membership in regards to shooting ports on busy days. This is part of our agreement with the State. Any port that is being used by a Member that is required by the Range Officer for a Public Shooter must be relinquished at the request of the Range Officer.  Any Member who wishes to sign in as a member of the General Public may do so and pay the current rate, if they do not wish to relinquish or wait for an open port.  One port is to be reserved, on busy days, for the use of Members in relays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a Member&#8217;s privileges have been suspended they must sign in as a regular Public Shooter and pay the Public rate. There will be no exceptions. The Range Officers on duty will be responsible for enforcing this and their decision in any dispute will be final. Any Member who does not obey the Range Officer on duty may be brought up on charges by the Range Captain before the membership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maintaining a safe environment at <em>ALL TIMES <\/em>is our first priority!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safety<\/strong> &#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Range Safety Officer reserves the right to inspect all firearms and ammunition prior to live firing in an effort to prevent the discharge of unsafe firearms or ammunition. Firearms or ammunition that appear to be defective or otherwise unsafe or inappropriate for the purpose of the range, in the best judgement of the Range Safety Officer, shall not be fired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Firearms brought to the range must be unloaded and cased, holstered, or secured on a transport cart. There is no handling of firearms in the picnic table area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Firearm muzzles<\/strong> <strong>must be pointed down range at<\/strong> <strong>ALL TIMES.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ABSOLUTELY NO HANDLING OF FIREARMS IS ALLOWED DURING A<\/strong> <strong>CEASE FIRE<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eye and Ear protection is mandatory for everyone at the range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No full automatic fire is permitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explosive devices, chemical agents, tracer bullets and pyrotechnics of any form are not allowed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uncontrolled rapid fire is not permitted. &nbsp;A controlled rapid fire rate should not exceed 6 rounds in 10 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tactical shooting events are explicitly prohibited on the premises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long guns \/ shotguns must be fired from the shoulder or the bench; there is no hip-fire. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shotguns with only a pistol grip and no means of shouldering are <em>NOT <\/em>allowed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shotguns may load a few rounds of birdshot shells for shot patterning <strong>ONLY <\/strong>on targets and a target stand provided by the shooter.  Buckshot is not allowed to be shot on the range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shotguns firing slugs are allowed on HRSA-owned target frames and bases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shooters may proceed down range during a cease fire to check or change their targets through the center aisle only.  Do not climb over or disturb the berms in any way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Magazines may be reloaded during a cease fire from behind the yellow line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Targets<\/strong> &#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b><i>No targets shall be placed over any part of the <strong>target frame or in front of frame base.<\/strong><\/i><\/b><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Glass, ceramic, stone, aerial or exploding targets, stuffed animals, photos or representations of real people or personalities, any images with a face are <strong>not allowed<\/strong> to be used as targets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metal targets are <strong>not allowed&nbsp;<\/strong>at this time. &nbsp;Target shooting is restricted to paper only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All targets must be placed down range no closer than 25 feet.  On the rifle side, stands at the 25-yard, 50-yard and 100-yard marks must be placed behind the berms to protect the bases.  On the pistol side, target stands must be placed no further than the base of the berm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All targets and any materials brought to the range by shooters must be disposed of properly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-ar-bench.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/highrockrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HRSA-range-ar-bench-634x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1123\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Range Hours &#8230;.
